So what does the numbers stand for , would it be like length in inches ???

i don't think it has anything to do with the length its more like model numbers and most of the time the bigger the number the stronger it is here is a chart that might help explain a little bit

willie two, the dana 28 has 12 bolts on the front of the axle, while the dana 35 has ten. the dana 35 also has the same u-joints as the high piniond dana 44, very easy to find. despite what that link said, the dana 35 also appeared in broncoII applications from 10/89 on. my build date is 11/89, i have a ten bolt d35.
