Axle Upgrade

Post by djadjective »

In the spring Im going to replace my leaf springs on my 88 Bronco II and a friend of mine has a Ford 8.8 sitting around he doesnt need. So my question is what would need to be customized with that axle swap; U-bolts, Driveshaft, shock mounts? Also what would be the best choice one out of a ranger or early exploder? The rear driveshaft in there now is a non-CV dana built one, and Im not sure if there would be enough play in the sleeve to match up to the larger 8.8.

whats the 8.8 out of? a exploeer would be the best choice. Dont know to much whats needed to do the swap. But ifs its out of a full size its going to be really wide and run a different lug pattern with a large 5 instead of the small five you have now.

don't use it if it is out of a ranger if I am not mistaaken the ranger axles are narrower than the b2 axles.
use a explorer axle they have 31 spline shafts and they are wider than the b2 axles

Ill measure it and if its not right, I'll just hit up a junk yard and find an exploder. Thanks for you help.
