Just FYI concerning Fuel sending units.

Post by PHROX »

They suck.

I couldnt find anyone to sell me just the fuel level sending unit that i needed. They wanted to sell me the whole pump assembly. 105+ bucks.
Anyways the problem is that I kept the guage cluster from the 93 t-bird. but the fuel guage didnt work. so after alot of research I found that my 87 tank had a 75ohm Empty and about 8-10 full. found the gage needs a 10-20 ohm empty and 175 ohm full. which would explaine why my truck ran out of gas with almost half a tank left. (I was expecting it to, so I had a gas can with me) so anyways. I found that in 89 they switched the broncoII's over to the 10 empty and 175 full. so after pulling tanks out of 3 junkers i finaly found a 90 ranger that had a sending unit that worked. but... it was not the same style so ... I cut it off with a length of the fuel line it was atatched to. I cut the line down the middle and bent it to fit over the existing fuel line on the tank I have now. Then I used some clamps to hold it on.(wish I had taken a picture) Anyways I hope this helps someone.
