The ECM computer on my spare parts '88 truck .... attached to the firewall inside the truck at the passenger's feet, has a sticker on it saying ,(among other things), Taurus.

Anyone know if this part is reallyinterchangable with some Taurus models?

And so, do you suppose this means this ECM must not be the origional unit on this truck?

I believe some taurus' did come with 2.9's. It's very possible that the computers interchange. Or the label on there may have nothing to do with the taurus vehicles..

I was at the parts store today....looking thru the filter catalog for BII fuel filters. It lists one filter for the '88 ... the metal can style with a in and out nipple on each end. (The filter I have right next to the motor mount).
The '87 has two listed but it says "one or the other". Ones the same can style as mine, the other is a pleated paper cartridge style.

Again, it says "or". Catalogs can sure be wrong, but I don't know what to believe now.

Oh and the catalog listed Taurus parts starting in '87. But no 2.9 motors... a 3.0 v6.
