havent looked at anything yet but on way to shcool this morning ran like a top but as soon as i let off the gas it would die even after it was warmed up throw your suggestions at me like i said i havent even popped the hood its the 84 with a 2.8 carburated with a 4 speed
well since its carburetted it wouldn't have one of those but im not sure what it was on way home from school ran fine and idles great musta just be to damn cold was only like 3 degrees F or -16 C
I had an open element air filter on my 2.8 and it was prone to icing the carb up. If you shut it off for five and restart it. The ice should melt and the carb will warm up to some what of engine temp. You are alot colder than what mine ever saw.

it ran fine all night i think its just time to start looking for a 302 or a 351 and a quality trans transfer case and a decent from and rear diff to take the added power all i gotta do is figure out where to buy the stuff where to get the money and how to install it once i get it lol
i had same proble try the relay for the elc choke if not rebuld your carb may be a blown power valve have fun lol if any ? write back i had same prob jake
The 2.8 carb is kinda jacked up in the air from the manifold like a highrise. Aluminum disapates heat fairly well not allowing the carb to get as warm. Does your 302 have a cast iron manifold???
