what's the trick to swap ignition modules what socket size !

got a 2.8 84 bII need to swap out an ignition module but muh sockets won't reach and muh deeps don't seem to fit ? what size is the screws and is there a trick to getting it off ?? Thanks guys !!

if i remember correct on my 89 fullsize it was a weird metric size something like 6.5 or 5.5 mm... i do remeber it being a pain in the a$$ though.

If you find the correct size and it will not fit into the hole leading to the screw/bolt, there is a trick we used to do but it will weaken the socket for other uses. Get the right size and grind the sides thinner so it fits into the recess. I did this to get the module off my '90 B2 distributor but I can't find the socket right now to tell you what size it was. It may have even benn a standard six point nut driver I did the grinding on. At any rate the thinning allows the socket to get to the bolt.
