Ok im probably gonna be asking this for no reason because u people r gonna say yes....But here, i have another topic on pinion angles and this will be 1 more question on the diffs. Its gonna be a 4 inch lift, I already have a 3 inch body, so it will be 7 inch total. Don't expect me to run around in 31" tires on this lift that would be too funny :laugh: So I'm probably gonna try to run the largest tires I can with a little added fender timming, will it be inbetween 4:10 and 4:56's? Lets see, 35 inch tires too, somewhere around there seems pleasing :D .

what engine and trans are you running? a 2.8 needs 4.56....

i'm running 31s with 3.73 gears on my 86 BII with 5 speed and it is ok.... could be a little lower.... i wouls say 4.11 with 33's.... 4.56 with 35's... 4.56 would probably be good with either though

I ran 4.10's with my 31's and it was just like stock performance. the speedo was really close also. I'm not sure what the limit's are on the front and rear but a 4.56 should work really well for 33's. the 33's should look good with the 4" lift too. remember if you have the D28 it is not going to like much larger then a 31. if you have the D35 then you can go up to a 35.

I just added a 6in lift to my 86 b2 2.9 and I'm running 7.5 rear with 4.10 and dana 28 up front sittin on 33s and it kicks ass. The only thing I would suggest is if you were planning to spend money on a gear change, put it under the hood. The more horses you've got, the happier you will be. Cheap quick fixes would entail adding a k&n, taking throttle body off and cleaning thoroughly, and changing or cleaning injectors. If you've been playing in the mudd, I would also suggest taking your air box assembly apart and cleaning that too. If you've really got a few bucks to spare, summit racing has headers for your rig for a pretty cheap price. ($195 - $750) depending on which kit you buy. Attached is a pic newly lifted but it's currently under construction getting a new top end (polish and port) and the addition of new injectors and new headers from summit.
