ground wire issue

Post by 88broncobob »

I`m having a ground wiire problem. I turn the key and fuel pump doen`t work. I put a new fuel pump in. bought a new plug that you put together yourself. I put the tank back in. I also put a new relay in for the fuel pump. when I tried to jump start it one of the wires hooked to the selonoid started smoking.

Just throwing out a couple of suggestions here. First off is it possible you swapped the wires into the wrong side of the plugs. Also if that is not the case then look for a pinched wire between the pump connector and the pump. Do you have an ohmmeter available? If so check the resistance between the high and low terminals. it should be a low resistance but Not Zero resistance.

Check out the wire from tank to relay real close maybe your problem is there!
