1988 Bronco ll. Removing tranny to replace flywheel.

Post by skag101 »

I'm trying to replace a busted flywheel. I've never pulled the tranny before. I need to find out if I have to remove the cross member that holds the radius arms in place and if I have to remove the "y" pipe. Both of these run directly under the bell housing and there is hardly any clearance with them in place. If I have to remove the cross member, is there tension on the radius arms? I dont want to remove more than needed, and I dont want the front end to collapse on me if I take the wrong thing loose. Please help. Thank you.

Didn't look like there was room to get the y pipe out without removing the cross member but I will sure give it a try. Thanks.
