Im in the middle of the duraspark conversion right now, got everything ripped out, bought all new parts and wiring supplies, gonna head out to the shop here right away and start putting it back together. The timing advance quit on it so I figure this would be a better solution than fixing the tfi system.

Ne1 have experience with this is welcome to chime in with suggestions, problems and results.

Had it running for a bit with all the new gear in place, starts good, sounds good. Still a big mess of wiring to remove and have to do the vacumn lines but it was pretty simple really.

Calling this project done, went well and works well, truck drives like its got 20 more HP, more wiring and vacumn lines on the floor than there is in the truck now. I'll be watching the gas mileage closely for a while, should be an improvement.

My truck is a stock '85 2.8L manual

Highly recommended upgrade.

Don't feel bad about your mileage. My DD is a 08 Ford E-150. Custom van. it has the 5.4 Mod motor and 4spd auto. I am ecstatic if I see 17mpg. Of course 17 mpg is only momentarily as it only happens on the freeway It usually averages 12 miles per gallon to 14 miles per gallon. ugh! I wanted to put a cold air intake on but unfortunately no one makes one for my Van. They make then for everyone else but not my sedate van. I may break down and build my own cold air intake but then again that is another project amongst a mountain of projects now!

Up until last spring my DD was a '94 4L Ranger so that wasnt too bad on fuel, but then we bought a small travel trailer so I bought an '89 F150 5L and sold the Ranger, so now I want use the B2 as my DD. Turns out the F150 doesnt really have the power to pull the trailer very well so now Ive also bought an '80 Full size Bronco with the big block 5.8L so thats my next big project. As you can tell I am a Ford fan, have been for 40 years, I even have two Ford garden tractors... Lol

Just an update... should have gone duraspark years ago, been drivin the B2 daily for almost a month now, close to 2000km and no issues or concerns, getting about 22/23mpg in 4x2 with rpm around 2300 at 100km per hour. I left it outside a few times in cold weather and it fires up better than Ive ever seen. Happy Happy!!
