Bronco 2 2x4 to 4x4 conversion

Post by Luke »

I am wanting to convert my B2 to four wheel drive but everyone I talk to says there is too much to this and don't want to do it. Does anyone know of anyone close to Manchester Tn that would do this and about how much it would cost?
Thanks
Luke
If anyone could get me a parts list or something I would like to tackle it myself. I am trying to learn.

look under your BII and see if there is a "transfer case" I am not sure about the '90's one but up to '88 for sure any BII that was 2x4 had a hollowed out t-case and if that's the case with yours all you need to do is go to a junkyard and get the T-case from any BII(probably easier to use a manual one) and then either a Dana 28 or Dana 35 front end(id recommend the dana 35 from a explorer as its direct bolt in and MUCH stronger) and last but not least you will need the engine crossmember from a 4x4 BII as it is different than the 2x4

To costly to do from a shop but a full days work to do at home... can buy a donor BII with a bad engine for like $200 so its cheap too

better yet find the donor BII and put your engine in it ;)

With the rising scrap prices I doubt you will find one for 200. There was one on craigslist out in pulaski a month or so back for 500. keep looking there. It is where I find the best prices. Ranger parts will work too. If you have that dummy t-case it will make your life easier too.

1990 didn't have the Dummy case in it. 88 was the last year for that. Remember that Ranger's had the same running gear. Driveshaft may differ.

not the one I have in my front yard, when they changed the body style they put a full driveline. I could be wrong.

That may be, the 1 I have with a build date of 08/89 doesn't have a dummy case.
