problem with starter.

Post by tedjames11 »

i have an 87 bronco ii with the 2.9v6. When i go to start it the starter solenoid just does one click, i bench tested it and the starter is good. I bought a new solenoid and its still doing it. There isn't any resistance going from the solenoid to the starter. I'm stumped. Any input?

may be a ground? battery good? what happens if you put a jumper cable from battery to starter side on solenoid (mag swt).

I've wire wheeled it to bare metal at all the ground points.

your motor isn't locked up is it. are you sure the starter is getting power. usually when you just get a click you have a bad ground or not enough power. what is the condition of the battery. if you have good power and ground i would try turning the motor over by hand to make sure nothing is bound up
