Carb upgrade

Post by skywagonvet »

I'm in an 84 with the original 2.8 V6. It's all rebuilt except for the carb and emission stuff. We (my mentor and I) have tried lots of troubleshooting, but can't get consistent idle speed. The engine will idle at 2000 RPM, 900 RPM, or die at a stop sign. I'm ready to change to an old fashioned carburetor with a manual choke. Any guidance for brand, type, model, or preference? I've figured that I need about 225 CFM. Is that close?

Thanks!! Skywagonvet
