Post by tonymasone »

Did a compression check on my 87 b2 the front right cyl is 115psi tested both hot and cold same 115psi all other cyl are 150 on the dot, is this symptomatic of a blown head gasket or what?

What made you want to do a compression test, in other words what were your symptoms? This could be some carbon build up on the valves, It is more than 20% but not by much. Try putting a little oil in the spark plug hole and test again, this will tell you if your rings are worn. If you don't have coolant in the oil, or huge amounts of white smoke coming from the tail pipe, and no coolant, I wouldn't go replacing a head gasket until I know for sure. Good luck. -Jeff
