2.9 igniton help

Post by lostexan »

Well after doing alot of searches on here and reading alot of replies to questions, I still have a few questions. I replaced the igntion(tumbler) switch on my 87 2.9. At first the key would not work to start the truck, all the acc. are on but no start. I could leave the key in the run position and jump the coil and it would run, but now it does not even run like that. It just turns over. It has fuel in tank as well at the fuel rail. There is no spark though at the plug wires. I have checked the column with a meter and get power up to the coil there on the drivers side wheel well. Through the searches, etc it seems to lead to the TFI. I cant find to much on the tfi in the manual. So Im wondering if this would be a good place to start my troubleshooting?
