NP435 bracket?

Post by DBrown »

Nobody, do you have any pics or demetions of the bracket you made to get the Land Cruiser stuff to work?
also any part #'s of the stuff you used would be great.
already have the bellhousing and clutch arm but I wanted to keep the hydrolic clutch.

The slave application is 75 land cruiser. I had to cut down the push rod.

For the bracket I used a piece of angle. It's hanging off of one of the bellhousing bolts. I wanted to secure to more than one spot, but it seems fine this way after more than 3 years. I also had to weld a small piece on the bottom of the bracket so I had some room for front/back adjustment to clear the header. I also had to move the slave inward on the arm to get enough throw. This makes the peddle pretty stiff.......but my wife can drive it, so it isn't that bad.

I used a compression fitting on the stock clutch line and adapted to the pipe thread on the slave.

This certainly isn't the prettiest way to do it, but it's been working fine for me. You might try to get your hands on a factory hydraulic slave and bellhousing setup.

There's more pictures here and there on my V8 write-up

YOU MIGHT ALSO WANT TO CHECK INTO A BELLHOUSING FROM A TREMEC 4 SPEED OD TRANNY. I GOT ONE OUT OF AN 84 FULLSIZE
BRONCO AND WAS ABLE TO BOLT IT UP TO A T-18. THE BELLHOUSING
ALREADY HAS A MOUNT FOR THE SLAVE CYLINDER. ALL I HAD TO DO WAS DISCONNECT THE NYLON LINE FROM THE END THAT GOES INTO THE FIREWALL AND ATTACH IT TO A STOCK BRONCO II END. EVERY THING BOLTS UP AS THOUGH IT CAME FROM THE FACTORY THAT WAY. ANYWAY, AS LONG AS THE INPUT SHAFT ON THE NP435 IS THE SAME ALONG WITH THE TRANNY TO BELLHOUSING BOLT PATTERN. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE THE SAME SETUP.

It's the same as the slave end, there is a roll pin you need to punch out.

I had an idea today to set mine up. I think I will use the factory bar and attach the slave to the frame. thought it might be a little easier to get to and adjust.

That's the whole problem with mechanical clutches. The body can flex and actually disenguage your clutch.

I looked into the the internal slaves. They are expensive, and you're pretty much screwed if you have a problem on the trail. External for me.

the way I pan on setting it up is using the body mounted peddle with the hydro. hose going to the slave that is mounted to the factory bracket on the frame. if I do it right I can have an adjustable unit. it will also give me more room to work on it and catch less heat from the exhaust. when I get the parts I will show you what I mean but it might be a week or two.

but still, with it mounted to the frame and not the tranny, wont there be the possiblity of it operating the clutch when the frame flexs

well if you have seen one of the factory brackets it rotates on a rod that is connected to the frame and bell housing. the arm that would move it from the factory just rotates the arm and causes it to release, that said.....I plan on mounting the slave on the frame right behind the frame mount for the rod that the assembly rotates on. the only flex that would occure would be when the motor moves on the mounts. but on the 79 bronco it has an extra mount from the transfer case to the frame so I dont think it will move that much. if it does it will be minimal.

I plan on cutting the arm off that rotates it and moving it to the top sticking straight up. then mounting the slave directly behind it, to push it forward.

here this might help more:
