I need a Winch, don't know what brand and what size weight to purchase . Any brands to stay away from. :usa:

Depends on your budget and how much you would use it. Example trail rig or daily driver. Might as well spend some money on a good one instead of replacing it. Go with a Warn if you have the money.

as far as type of winch, the general rule of thumb is get a winch with a weight capacity of twice your vehicle weight. example truck weighs 3500 lbs x 2= 7000 lbs next higher winch is 8000 lbs. going to light and you can snap the cable and kill yourself or someone else.

everyone rags on harbor freight, but mine has got me thu some crazy stuff. If i were using it constanly i might have more problems but for the casual use it gets i think its the best bang for the buck. as far i can tell they are made by milemarker anyways.
