5.8L swap

Post by Rockcrawler »

Well my 5.0 is getting tired and i found a great deal on ford bronco for 400 bucks with a 5.8L So far i have pulled everything out of the bronco, now i need to clean up the motor and pull all the smog stuff off. Next week i will be pulling out everything on my bronco II. I want to move everything forward about three inches or as far as i can so i can have a longer rear drive shaft. I will also be mocing the radiator to the back.

yeah i have been kinda lazy the last couple weeks. i have pulled everything out of the bronco, i tore down the whole wiring harnes and got it all mapped out so it should be easy to put back together. I decided not to move the motor forward becuase it would interfear with the front suspension. So this job is going to be alot easy then before. I ordered the duel oil sub pan today, and it should be in on the 12th. I will be changing the vavle cover gastkets in a couple days and painting the pan the intake and valve covers dark for blue when i change all those gastkets. Also doing the oil pump sense everything will be out so its a good time to do it.

well got some pics of the stuff i have been up to. I got the wiring harnse hopefully all ready. The good news i found out that this was a crate motor from ford. the bad when pulling the tranny some how one of the bolt holes for the tranny broke off and i was going to weld it back on but it some how dissapeared off the face of the earth. i got the new oil pump in and everything is ready for paint and then the reasimbily starts.

Well i finally got around to pulling out the 5.0. It was a pleasent 30 degreses outside while doing this too. I have been busy trying to buy a house so it has really taken alot longer to do this then i thought it would! I cant wait to get it up and running. I also donated the big bronco to the fire dept here in town and they cut it up for pratice!

Its kinda in Got the motor mounts all welded up and bolted in. It was a real pain! I jacked up my finger and stripped out a bolt on the exuast manifold! It was a pretty crappy day but i got some work done which was nice. There was also a really nice message on the fly wheel from the owner before me.
