2.8L Engine redline?

Post by yoyodyne »

I just put an aftermarket tach on my 84 BII,with a settable redline indicator. Anyone know what the redline is on the factory tach equipped 2.8L trucks?

I believe the rev limiter kicks in at 6100. With a different distributor it will go more. When I went to the Mallory Unilite I set the redline at 7000. That was more for fun than function. The engine will hit it but it already has made all the power it was going to make about 5500 6000 rpm. Sounds cool though in the parking lot.
