sick shackles

Post by b2binbad »

Hey all,
Here's some shackles I made. I took a few ideas from different shackles.
Do you think they'll work?

they will work but not how you have them setup right now. just move the shackle mount foward some so your shackle can move when you hit a bump because right now its just going to push and not compress. the best angle to have you shackle at should like this / that way you can ge some extra drop but you probly wont need it with that shackle so you could probly get away with a strait up and down shackle like i have in the rear. From the way it looks it will also be noisy (mine were really loud) so put some ruber between the two metal parts and that should solve that problem. They look good and cant wait to see them in action.

Thanks for the tips, i think I may just cut the ends off of the bumper. When your talkin about that angle, do you mean the lower shackle or the upper dogbone section. Let's say I'm looking at the passenger side, like in the picture.

your shackle should be at the most at this angle maybe a little more strait up and down.

Yeah, your shackle angle is all messed up. It will ride like a tank like that.

I looks like you were going for the "revolver" effect, which when done right will flex well, but perform like shit.

There was a lot of discussion about them when they came out a few years ago, and the general consensus was they sucked. Open up at the worst possible moment etc.....

I tried all different types of angles today but couldn't get the thing to compress right its got plenty of drop though. I think I'm gonna scrap it.
Thank all,

yeah thats what i was trying to say but probly wasnt to good at explaining it. That should work. What you might want to also do is have a way to pin it up so that if you get into a off champer situation that you can pin it up.

Or what if you reversed it. Put the dogbone facing the front and shackle angled down and back toward the rear. You'd have to block the dogbone from going up beyond horizontal, but it should allow the shackle to move with the spring. Just another idea, and yes you can say I'm stupid. I've heard it before.
