What kind of switch are you using to turn the clutch off?

Re: Hub wrench socket
Whatever you do, don't use an impact wrench on the top one. Our mechanics ruin several a year that way.

P.S. it's spelled "cylinder".

Re: how good are the 4 cylanders
Rare as hen's teeth. I've had a couple of the Mitsubishi turbo diesels (Not in the Bronco 2) that were great motors. But I would think they would be under powered for the B2. Probably why they weren't common. Now a Detroit 453 turbo would be nice.

Re: Transmission interchange?
According to a friend's parts interchange book, the drive shafts are different. But I don't care since I'll be using the original transfer case. As long as the TC bolts up I'll be fine. Also found out that my 5spd is a Mitsubishi FM 145.

Re: Transmission interchange?
Pulled the 5spd, pedal sector, master cylinder, flywheel, clutch, and forgot the cross member. But, hey, ain't that what a welding machine's for? Got everything put in the shop for now. I want to get a new release bearing assembly, clutch disc, pilot bearing, and some other stuff before I do the ins...

Re: Transmission interchange?
And now for something completely different. A friend gave me a 87 B2 parts truck that has a low mileage 5spd manual and associated hardware still in it. I didn't realize that the 2WD had a dummy transfer case in them. I'll take pictures and document the swap.

Re: Transmission interchange?
Awesome. Those are easy to come by for me. As long as the transfer case will bolt up to the 2WD trandmission, I've got it made.
And after deciphering the VIN it is an 85. Not sure why I said 84.

Re: Transmission interchange?
Will the 4.0 Ranger transmission out of a 2WD work? I'm thinking of getting a better transmission and rebuilding it if necessary.

I'm going to attempt the rebuild myself. How hard can it be?

Re: Transmission interchange?
I'm assuming I'd need to find one out of a 4WD for the correct tail housing. I'll probably rebuild the one in the truck depending on the price of the parts. Definitely want to stick with the automatic but need to stay budget minded as well. A friend deals with early rangers a lot and may have a A4LD...

Transmission interchange?
I'm getting a Bronco 2 4WD that has an overdrive automatic that slips pretty bad. I think its and 84 or 85 model with a 2.8 V6. Would it be easier to rebuild the existing transmission or try to find another? Local pull-a-part has several rangers and maybe a bronco 2 2WD. If I fit another transmissio...
