Swapping to a 4.0 is mechanically basically a engine swap. the wiring can be daunting but if you get the donor harness it goes prety easy. You can use your running gear and just swap the 4.0 in.. I personally don't have any write ups or stuff but there may be some Tek on it here. Maybe one of our mo...

Re: ??? changing head gaskets ???

i am deciding on whether or not to buy a 1986 bronco II 4x4 w/ 2.9L 4sp w/ overdrive. it is very hard to start, once it starts it does not want to stay running and smokes like crazy. the smoke is a white-grayish color and I'm sure it is burning anti-freeze, so i am thinking that it has a blown head...

Hey Phillippi, Sounds like you are on the right track. The only thing I would change would be to let all of the vehicle weight set on the springs and front end. Since you don't have the Motor installed you need to anticipate how much lower the chassis will set when you add the weight of the motor.. ...

That is an interesting question. You replace the clutch by removing the trans and transfer case if equipped. The shop repair manual be it Chilton's or whatever will have a section on how to change the clutch. It is to long a process to spell it out right here. If you don't have a repair manual handy...

To check the fuel regulator pull the vacuum hose off it and first check for gas in the vacuum line. Then put a hand vacuum pump on the regulator and set about 18 to 20 inches of vacuum and check to see the regulator holds the vacuum and doesn't bleed down. If it does replace it.

Fuel in the oil = bad fuel regulator. it The fuel regulator can also drown your engine by letting fuel into the vacuum system ands thus into the motor.

I had a graphic or 2 but it didn't copy.. This info here should be all you need to find out anything you want about your truck! Now let me make one more comment about "Owners Manuals". Owners manuals are not legal documentation for a legal GVWR! A vehicles GVWR is part of the VIN of the ve...

The TFI is an regular failure item on these engines. I have also seen the Hall effect sensor on the inside of the dist to fail. To replace the TFI you need a special thin wall socket. I know several people that have made their own by grinding an old socket. You can buy one ready made at your local a...

When I got my license, Regular ran about 28 to 30 cents. :D When there was a gas war I could get it for 26 cents. :finger: Oh that is in Gallons.
