Re: Tons of front wheel friction in 4wd

Brakes and wheel bearings turn in 2wd also. I'd look at the u-joints in the axle shafts, and really the only way to check them is to pull the shafts. Also, a set of manual hubs will cure the clicking and is a good upgrade. It would also let you drive the truck with everything in the front engaged an...

Re: Rear brakes don't work

Had the same problem on my '90 when I bought it. Bypass the ABS block, or better yet just take it off and throw it away. At least on my '90 the ABS failed in the closed position.
IMHO, these early ABS sytems never worked well anyway even when new.

Re: 4.0 swap.

I did a '91 Ex swap into my '90 BII a few years ago. The '91 wiring harness plugs right into the '90 firewall but there were (I think) two wires that needed to be swapped. Also had to do some re-wiring for the power windows/locks. For the most part though everything forward of the firewall is '91 Ex...

Re: 16 in rims on 1986 BII ???

I've got 16" rims on my BII from a 200? Explorer SportTrac, bigger tires though, 245's. Probably newer Rangers also have 16" wheels. Image

Re: BW 13-50 electric TC

Yes you can. I'm not sure if it has a detent to hold it in gear though with the motor off. I've fixed a few of these motors, look here.... http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/sho ... p?t=123542

Re: Chop Top Project

I built the folding roll-bar for the back. The main hoop comes from an old CJ5 roll-bar I had. I think you've seen the photos... http://www.flickr.com/photos/9970648@N0 ... 761070252/

If you've done 4 cyls before, the V6 is no different except you need to pull the intake manifold before the heads. You'll need a head gasket set of gaskets. If I were pulling the heads I think I'd take them to a shop to have a valve job done and checked for cracks. You could also replace the lifters...

The rear cab panel is made of wood, laminated hardwood strips to get the curve of the roofline, and then coated with black bedliner. Uses a ranger rear slider window. An aluminum u-channel along the botom channels water to either side when the bed cover is on. I really don't use it much in the winte...

I think you probably have a cracked head and it's going out the exhaust. I don't think you're losing enough to notice it in the exhaust. You could try some sealer in the coolant but at best it's a band-aid.

easier yes, what i want to do, no. if you know what you're doing and have accessto a decent TIG, as i do, welding in a rear cab wall is not hard. my question is whether that would be strong in a rollover, or if i should put in a bar. i don't want tool boxes on the sides - i want basically a unibody...

Lookin good. What are you going to do about closing the cab off? I have never found a setup that looks good so I never have attempted the chop top. Hope to see more pics! http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/wblbronco/album?.dir=1957&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/p...

1993 Explorer Trans in BII?

Can I use a 1993 Explorer trans as a direct replacement in my 1990 BII?

Thanks for any advice,
