Have any extra wire? Run a wire from the positive terminal on the battery over to the pump and see if it runs. The pump also needs to be grounded. FWIW, a test light is cheap.

You can't use the 2.9 harness on a 4.0, you need the harness that came with the donor engine. Besides the engine you'll need the computer, bigger radiator from a 4.0 as well as a trans from a 4.0. From a 2.9 to a 4.0 is mostly wiring changes but you also need to use a 4.0 trans.

You need to use a 4.0 trans with the engine. Putting in the engine is the easy part, wiring is a little more difficult. No need for a body lift.
