Thanks, thats some good reading. I will watch the oil passages for sure. At least I'm using a remanufactured engine which is clean with no stopped up passages. the heads are freshly done too. I may need new rockers tho??

I also noticed that the large plate just behind the cam gear has a small slot on each side ? Any idea, it looks weird. I assume a gasket would cover those up?

I received my short block today. I've overhauled atleast 200 sbc but never a 2.8. Are there any weird things that I could miss? special oil passages? bolt holes that go directly into a oil passage? Also would a high volume oil pump be a good thing or a waste of money and extra hp to turn it? I have ...

cooling woes continue

Do you have a mechanical water temp gauge. My 84 DASH gauge was always reading weird. Are you "burping your system" of ALL air after taking it apart? If you have a mechanical gauge you can see when its warming up or not warming up. Thats where I started with mine. My 84 warms up quick, and...

got any ideas on a cam. I haven't started looking yet. I don't need a real lumper but some added mpg and torque would be worth the money spent.

I found a set of Edelbrock headers at summit. My short block is ready. New pistons. Zero decked. Moly rings, SPS rod bolts. Heads are ready with three angle valve job, ported and polished. even if the headers would only give three percent, I'll still take it. I've thought of the Duraspark, but I hav...

Exhaust leak

I have a stock 84 with factory exhaust. I have an exhaust manifold leaking. I think its on the bottom of #6 which is in the back. It really is annoying to hear it. Would you put up with it, or try to remove the manifold bolts. I've heard they will break off really easy. If they break off, that would...

Which spark plugs and heat range would you use for a stock 84. I drive mostly on highway. Its starting to miss some, so time for a change.

I've been towing my utility trailer with no problem. The first trailer I had was one of the folding types that weigh 250 lbs. plus I had a treated floor on it, so it might have weighed 350 lbs. I could still pick up the back end by my self. I hauled a 550 lbs. John Deere on it easily. I upgraded to ...

Yup, I had to buy one. I found mine at Napa. You will bugger up the nut if you use a hammer and chisel.
