for $210 each I would buy three and run 3 203s and a 205. Then I will swap out the gears in the 205 whenever the LoMax 4:1 205 gears ever come out (come on!!!!!). nothing like a 23.52 low range tcase.......That outta throw me in the 700's

tell that to my roommate, he has a thing with XJ's. The 4.0 I6 is a torquey engine but man what a pain to work on. A water pump replacement is like a weekend job.... I do like the solid axle front setup tho once you ditch the vacuum disconnect for a cable one.

what size tire? I was only running 235/75/15s which put alot less stress on the diff than bigger tires. Also if my tranny hadent gone out its possible that the diff would have gone instead. But if you brake a 7.5 shaft, a 28 spline 8.8 would have gone too because they are the exact same shaft. Sound...

high pinon front diffs are approx 30% stronger than low pinion. The reason for this is in a low pinion differential, it is really just a rear gear set that is now being used in the front. This means that the gears now have to turn backwards of their normal rotation direction that they were designed....

for a d44 get one from a 76-79 f150 or a 76,77 bronco(lp) 78,79 bronco (hp)
the f150 is high pinon

for a d60 get one from a 77-79 f250 camper special or f350
they are all high pinion

also for d44s early 80s jeep wagoneers work well too.

you cannot exceed 2" of lift without using drop brackets. The degree of adjustment needed at the knuckle to make up for a 4" lift is around 6 degree is which no one makes. you have to use drop brackets or drive around on the outside of your tires.....

you can use a jeep or f250 long bed drive shaft and take an inch or two off it, they use the dual cardian stock. Or you can pick up a f150 rear driveshaft and put the cardian joint on it. Or you can just go to the local wrecking yard and measure everything in the driveshaft pile and find one that fi...

btw, the 7.5 uses the same axles as the 28 spline ranger 8.8, and I had the 7.5 behind 351w's and 396w's doing hard launches on pavement at trips to the drag strip with no breakage other than blown cluster gears in the tranny.... A 7.5 will hold a 302 fine as long as you dont go over a 35" tire...

if you do any rock or steep tail running at all you will be so much happier with a sas hp d44 than a ttb d44 from a later f150. (btw most f250s ran d50s not d44s) Considering the amount of work and welding involved I would say it would take less work to get a sa d44 in there than a d50. less complic...
