well i know the 2.9 would be faster but i would do the 4.0 swap. the wiring takes some time to work out but in the end it would definatly be worth it, mine has a 4.0 and i am so glad i opted for the 4.0 inxstead of the 2.9 that it had in when mine blew up....... but with the 4.0 and 2.9 swap i did e...

so you cleaned the IAC and put it back on and it quit working, sounds like you need to check the plug connection, the plug itself might not be making connection, make sure the wire didnt push back in the plug end, also take a minut and run 2 jumper wires to the iac and see if it will open and close,...

donor vehicles.....

First of all you want a 4.0 DOHC type motor so would be before a motor made before 97 .................yes i used the same mounts, just unbolt one motor and bolt the other in same place with the same mounts...... tranny, T case, drive shaft from your truck just reuse...... just drop and bolt ...... ...

well if tis still furrnig hot, first change the thermostat if you havnt done that already, and then if it still does it you might look into the radiator for a 4.0 v6 from an explorer as it will bolt right in where the 2.9 radiator was the difference being it is a dual core.....twice as thick allowin...

i would like to note that the 2.9 motor had alot of head problems but in 89 ford redesigned the heads for it and it was supposed to solve alot of those issues, but its said they were never put to use in the Bronco II, so if the 2.9 heads look different around the ports where the valves go through th...

i thought about rebuilding my 2.9 in mine and decided since the cam kit with lifters costed more than the 4.0 swap in mine did to do the 4.0 swap..... and i am very glad i did, the performance difference was well worth saving that money ........ LOL ........ if you wnat the Bronco II to come to life...

also, do u know if u have to replace the bolts on the head,

definatly..... do not reuse them they are a torque to yeild bolt, it you try to reuse them they will not seat right, and you will regret it........REPLACING THEM IS REQUIRED ACCORDING TO BOTH HAYNES AND CHILTON MANUALS

i believe you will find it goes to the transfer case , look at the drivers side of the transmission near the output end for the transfer case it should be laying loose somewhere right in there, or at least thats where it was located on the 2.9 in my 89 yes i know they are different years but it shou...
