Looks like good snow. How far you have to go? I wonder who rebuilt that box? I make sure not to use him. :finger:

Then there is a direct short somewhere. Possibly in that wire itself. I believe that wire is the 12 volt supply to the battery. I have melted one before but that is when I was running KC lights for extended periods of time. I think I had the heater going full bore at the same time. Since i was in th...

The steering may not be binding but the rag joint at the steering box will fail. I went through a few with my 3 inch body lift. The e-brake cable must be pulled pretty tight. There isn't much shifter left poking through the floor either. I would get rid of the body lift and just cut out your fenders...

You are drawing to many amps. You may need to get a bigger battery or another battery to go with the one that is there. The reason you are melting the wire is that you have drained the battery and now you are relying on the charging system to do the work. That wire might be good for 40 amps at the m...

New part

Look what I got for $50.00. It is a 3:73 posi also. It will do until I can afford new gears. :redneck: I caught it right before it got totally crushed. The rotors were broken but those are cheap. The tubes are still straight. I will have a HP 44 and a couple of 9 inches for sale soon. ;)

Defenders are not sold in the US any more because Land Rover does not want to make them comply with US standards. This would make them to expensive for the US market. I understand that the last year that they were shipped here, they were alotted so many vehicles into the states (like 2000). Each of ...

I have lost springs with too long a shock. Definitly use j-hooks to hold the spring in. It is a pain to pop the spring back in on the trail.

Junk the autos. Warn makes a pretty strong hub. I have broke axle shafts off inside of them. I also have grenaded the housings on them and the still worked to get me home. The ford manuals fail inside and will just let the axle shaft spin inside of it.

I believe the rev limiter kicks in at 6100. With a different distributor it will go more. When I went to the Mallory Unilite I set the redline at 7000. That was more for fun than function. The engine will hit it but it already has made all the power it was going to make about 5500 6000 rpm. Sounds c...

You can disconnect them. It does affect handling on the road. I built my own extensions. I found that with the IFS it seemed to work better with the fronts still connected. loose the rear one though.

I was refering to the EEC IV dist when I said to set the timing. Not the pinto one. Though I myself would probably not use the vacuum advance. They sell different springs to set your timing curve. I have not removed the computer in conjunction with the EEC IV distributor. I am sure you could get it ...
