Re: POOR POWER
So have you decided to fix and sell it? Just saw it for sale in the Sell forum.. You'd be missing out on a great ride once it's fully functioning.

Re: Automatic Locking Hubs Operation
Nope. I guess that would just be a learning curve. I suppose that as long as you practice the above instructions, and not back up without it being in 4H, you would remain in the locked position. Switch out of 4H on the fly. I was most alarmed by the caution which states that if you are not locked in...

Re: POOR POWER
Hmmm... first off I would get me a new/rebuilt transfer case motor so that I could switch the thing in and out of 4wd. Secondly, when these are running properly they're like 4wd sports cars. They're quick, manuverable and run down the interstate really nicely. Notice I said quick, not fast. You shou...

Re: Automatic Locking Hubs Operation
So its saying that once the hubs are engaged there is no problem going between 2wd and 4wd? If that is the case why does it go on to list changing back to 2wd? Is it really saying "to disengage the hubs...."? Yes, it is talking about disengaging the hubs. If its the case that 2wd can stil...

Re: Heater Core
I'll vouch for the easiest core change. When I first got this '84, I had to change it... So easy I thought I'd died and gone to mechanic's heaven... The normal temperature (factory) is 195 degrees (some say 192). I'll have more to post on the early 2.8 thermostats tomorrow (I came upon some rare and...

Automatic Locking Hubs Operation
I was looking through my 84 Bronco II Shop Manual and found this information to help answer all the questions lately about the auto hub operation.. So here it is straight from the horse's mouth: AUTOMATIC LOCKING HUBS OPERATION FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE The vehicle must be stopped when you first shift into ...

Re: Serious Electrical Fault
I'm still thinking that you have a weak battery. Drive that thing over to Autozone and have them throw a battery tester on it. IF that's not the case, you can pull the alternator right there in their parking lot and walk in to have it tested. Until you do these things, you're swinging in the wind.

Re: New Buckets for B2
The BII seats, like the Explorers have a steel base to them that can be unbolted (4 bolts). Remove you BII seats, remove the base, and then you can figure out how to mount the new seats to the base. Pretty straight forward unless the new seats have bases that are not removable.

Re: Heater Core
First off, try NEVER to use the radiator stop leak solutions, while they work in a pinch, they should only be used as a bandaid until you can get it to a radiator shop. Secondly, yes, I'm afraid that the problem is your heater core which is a small radiator, built of the same materials and subject t...

Re: Serious Electrical Fault
A battery can die at the drop of a hat. Both brought on by extreme cold or extreme heat. If the cell dies, it is hard to even jump it, and if you get a jump that allows it to turn over, the starter may not have enough juice and you could kill it just because you are putting such a load on it without...

Re: Serious Electrical Fault
Sounds like it could simply be a bad connection on your battery. A not so simple solution could be that your ignition switch is going out on you.
Hard to troubleshoot that without being there...

Re: Synthetic Motor Oil?
Well, I can tell you about high mileage, I had 3 Neons, I commute 140 miles/day. The first I sold at 245K with nothing what so ever wrong with the drivetrain, the second we still have and it's pushing 196K, the third only quit and was sold because it got sidelined by a Buick, it had 170K. My '89 BII...
