Re: 1985 B2 project

Good news. The transmission cross member is interchangeable. Got the transmission and transfer case in today.

Re: Getting rust out of tank.

My only concern with using a pickup would be slowing it down.

Re: 1985 B2 project

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g260/cajun66/Bronco%202/DSCF3297.jpg Fits great. Also got the pedals in now. :redneck: It was harder than I'd expected. Had to pull the brake booster and drop the steering column so the aluminum bracket would rotate enough to get the clutch pedal started. Got that ...

Re: Getting rust out of tank.

If you look closely, you'll see the jack stand under the side with the tank. Put her in first at an idle with about 5 pounds of gravel and sand from the driveway and walked away for an hour. Did the job nicely.

Re: Transmission interchange?

Swapped out the pedals today. About as much fun as hitting myself in the head with a hammer. Had to pull the brake booster, drop the steering column, and get real flexable. But they're in. Now to put the clutch master cylinder in.

Re: Transmission interchange?

Weight isn't too much as it's hollow. Reason for the adapter was $$$. A friend cut it for free. I work for the City of Baton Rouge. I stay broke so budget is a major priority.

Re: Transmission interchange?

Machined by a guy who rebuilds industrial electric motors. Exact to +/- 0.0002 in. And spun balanced to 60,000 rpm. Overkill, I know, but we had the time.

Re: 1985 B2 project

Got the front drive shaft out of the donor truck 2 weeks ago. And my buddy started on the adapter: Started with this: http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/Bobbysbugbarn/1261228917.jpg http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt183/Bobbysbugbarn/1261228813.jpg And just need to index and tap the holes: ...

Re: FM146 symptoms & diagnosis

I've never been into an FM145 but I have rebuilt many manual transmissions over the last 16 years. Sounds to me like you're looking at an overhaul. Bearings, syncronizers, possibly bent shift fork. You may be better off looking for another transmission at a junkyard temporarily.

Re: how do i remove break hose from caliper?

Over a long period of time, it could rub a hole in the hose if it is in contact with anything. Sounds like they may have given you the wrong hose. If you have access to a die grinder you could open the hole up enough to make it fit. Just make sure it is fastened down pretty tight. They did it from t...
