Re: Blown head gasket already....
Block test has tested negative thank god.......now to diagnose what's going on...although I have run it again and it hasn't been spewing coolant everywhere...but I haven't run it with the radiator cap on yet so that will be next I guess.

Re: should be a real simple question...
I was going to go with ejector seat switch....but lucky for you it must not be hooked up.
Sounds like a weird one....no idea what that would be for.

Re: 1988 bronco ii oxygen sensor location
That sounds pretty close to what that Air Charge Temp Sensor was doing for me. I was trying to pass smog and was told the BII was running crazy rich, basically guzzling gas like you're saying. My fluctuating idle would usually go away after it warmed up though. Anyways, for $20, it might be worth a ...

Re: 1988 bronco ii oxygen sensor location
Yea, it's not the thermostat that I replaced. It was called Air Charge Temp Sensor. About $20 and located on the upper intake manifold.
I'm guessing it's not brake booster because you said it idles up and down when driving around.
Ya might have to go get it diagnosed.

Re: 2.9L Valve covers?
Yea, I dunno CFAIST. I didn't pay that obviously and just pulled some from the junkyard and cleaned them up. Shiny and new now. That's why I pulled another set...might help someone out in the future.

Re: 1988 bronco ii oxygen sensor location
Doesn't sound like an oxygen sensor issue....but it's located passenger side exhaust pipe, just upstream from the cat....probably easier to see from the bottom side. My BII had an issue where it didn't want to hold idle and would stall out until it got warm. I replaced IACV too with no luck. Turned ...

Re: Blown head gasket already....
Thanks drofman...I appreciate the offer....probably easier for me to pick up my own though since you live so far south.
I'll post the results after I do....but I'm pretty sure I already know the outcome.

Blown head gasket already....
So bummed right now. Test driving the BII last week trying to diagnose some transmission problems when a delayed gear shift got the rpms just above 4000 and then, pop, I feel the BII change and I see smoke and liquid in the rear view mirror. Cars honking. Pull over and coolant leaking everywhere. Li...

Re: 2.9L Valve covers?
That's crazy! My local dealer totaled it up and it was well, well over $100 for 16 bolts and 16 washers.CFAIST wrote:Bout $20.00 a side but they are discontinued, But there are alot of other options available if you have your stock ones.

Re: 2.9L Valve covers?
Wow...lucky you...I remember trying to find replacements for those and what the dealer wanted for them was outrageous. Crazy you can't get a valve cover from them though.
What's the going rate for regular joe that walks in there for those valve cover bolts and washers where you work?

Re: Any east tn members?
hmmm. Not sure if I have anything more than Drofman did. The first page is identical to Drofman's but it draws a bracket around certain pieces/parts labeling them as the manual locking hub. hub_01.JPG Second page, photo at bottom is just a close up exploded view of that same thing. hub_02.jpg The th...

I also have a set of bolts/washers for one valve cover that I pulled from a yard a while back that I could sell you too. I just need to clean them up.
