Re: 88 bronco ii dies when put in reverse and stalls out idl

You might check the fuel pressure. I had a bad regulator that was letting the fuel pressure get way too high and caused the same problem. The gas smell in the exhaust means its running rich. Btw the thing you need to unplug to adjust the timing is a small plastic box on the passengers side of the in...

Re: Bronco II Body mount

could anybody give me the length of the body mount bolts? My BII is my only vehicle right now so i need to buy replacement bolts before i start cutting the old ones off. the ford parts counter told me that they were all the same except the 2 under the back seat.

Re: 87 2.9 BII Exhaust Manifold Bolts

The 2.9 did not have a shroud the 2.8 did for the carb warm air. 2.9 fuel inject don't need no stinking warm air i have the 2.9 and i swear it had one of these. on the side of the airbox there was a hole with a temp controlled flapper. some kind of pressurized piston that would expand when warm and...

Re: dummys for California emissions bronco 2's

I for one run cats cause it dosen't hurt performance and why would you want to not run them. I'm not a treehugger by any means but if everyone cut them off our air would be like Mexico City's. aggreed. i wish i hadnt punched them out. it was right after missouri changed the law so pre 96 vehicles d...

Re: 87 2.9 BII Exhaust Manifold Bolts

the 2.9 had a shroud around the passenger manifold and a duct drew air from there to the air filter box to suck warm air in the winter. these rusted off really fast so most b2s dont have them anymore. the studs held that on. when i replaced mine i just drilled out the bolts. i tried to tap new threa...

Re: Receiver Hitch / Winch mount

frame should be the same width on front and back. measure to be sure then just get 2 of the same hitches. you might have to drill into the frame. i drilled to put in tow hooks, it took a while and i got covered in wd 40 but its possible. the bumper doesnt sit much lower than the frame so it should w...

Re: turn signal problems

you said it blows as soon as you turn on the ignition? does it blow even when the signals are turned off? i had a problem with the wires rubbing together in the back and made a short. take off the plastic trim between the rear bumper and the bottom of the rear door opening. check the wire bundle for...

Re: dummys for California emissions bronco 2's

idk if they did it different in cali but i have the same truck and the only oxy sensor is in the y pipe that comes from the headers right under the passengers seat. i hope you wernt planning on just having the exhaust dump out there. i started mine for a sec with the exhaust off just to see what it ...

Re: 86 B2 fuel guage/sending unit?

did it stop working suddenly or start reading too low then finally quit? check the wires on the back of the gauge cluster for a bad connection. while thats out put an ohm meter on the wires and measure the resistance to the sending unit. if i remember it should be 10 ohm for full tank and 70 for emp...

Re: engine problem

can you keep it running by hitting the throttle? check the float bowl for a clogged needle valve. might be getting way too much fuel and then flooding out.

Re: Another fuel gauge question

ive found that to be true only because the sending unit is sold as part of the fuel pump assembly. the whole thing has to be replaced. the extra cost is for the new fuel pump. i have an '88 bII. this is true for my case.

Re: grinding sound when taking off from a stop

unfortunately i think i had the same problem you described. it turned out that the output shaft on the transfer case was broken. not the spline shaft just the threaded part that keeps the flange connector from falling out. the CV type drive shaft pushes apart and just barely keeps it from falling ou...

Re: clutch issues

i assume you mean it is not fully disengaging, or releasing making it hard to get in and out of gear. i had a similar problem after changing the master cylinder. unhook the piston rod from the pedal and unbolt the master cylinder from the firewall and hold it upside down and rebleed. i had an air bu...

A/C high and low pressures for coldest air

ive found lots of descriptions about how to do the conversion but nobody mentions what pressure to charge the system to.
can anybody shed some light?
