Just a bit of an update.. Took the thing in to get the cooling system pressure flushed. It had only brown water in it when I checked. They ended up blowing out the heater core and the radiator. Took it home and replaced the heater core with the one from the 88. Found out that the bottom of the heate...

As you said, the radiator and mount is specific to the '84. I wouldn't let that deter you from pulling a newer radiator, just make sure you get all the pieces. The rads from 85 through the 94 Explorer are the same with the same mounts, so my way of thinking is that you can get up to a 10 year newer ...

You wouldn't use the o'ring and gasket both, use one or the other. The o'ring, if I recall and it is the correct o'ring for the thermostat (-]), should have a slit on the inside (horizontally) that makes the ring fit around the thermostat. You then just drop it in place as a unit.

Yep, I think Nobody's got it pegged. Just did the same thing to mine. On the highest setting the fan works because there is no resistance "in-line" with the blower motor. The other positions use a wirewound resistor to slow the motor (higher resistance = slower fan speed). Anyway, pull the...

Ruffinit - well maybe not

Here's the newest project. Brought it up 600 miles from Tennessee. No rust, dings or dents. The worst part of the whole thing was that all the vacuum lines and hoses had been pulled, plugged, cut or otherwise rendered inop.. 1984 BII XL 2.8L with C5 3.54s manual hubs, xfr case Absolutely base model,...

Fuel system

You are going to need the fuel system from an EFI bronco II. The 89's will work but you need to splice the fuel lines together or find the fuel lines from a 90 B2. These will plug right into the 4.0L lines. Oh, yeah I did note that the entire fuel system will need to be swapped. But.. the 84's rust...

The dash on the 94 and the 89 are identical however the explorer harness has some pins different on the big bulkhead connector. This is the reason for using the full engine harness, dash harness, and distribution harness. Then you just need to plug in or splice some of the chassis wireing but that ...

Hey Joel, I checked out your posting on your rebuild. Man, that's quite the project, much more involved than mine for sure. Couple things I have questions on.. You stated that when you first tried to fire it up you were missing a ground. Couldn't make sense of the pics on that, what did you find and...

The Perfect Project - 3:1 (4.0 liter)

First off I want to say that what Amberbrush is asking is one of my own questions. I will be making this 4.0 swap next week and my biggest question is on the wiring harness. Enough have done this that it should be documented, just can't find it... I have an 88 BII that I am going to swap a 4.0 from ...
