i have heard of people using it and having good results but i have to agree, get some good injecter cleaner. as far as Restore, i have used it in several vehicals and had good luck with it, we had a 77 Datsun pu that was smoking and burned a quart of oil every 500 miles, added Retore and after about...

sounds like you are on the right track, as far as the guage, i would replace it, it should have read hot as you lost water.

i don't know about the 2 core with the v8 but i do know that a lot of people use the 4.0 rad and its pretty much a bolt in swap.
