Re: Dash replacement

LMC truck out of Lenexa KS has them, part # is: 50-8777 for $109.95 and they have 5 different colors. This is the original type hard plastic cover. And they also have different colors to paint the rest of the interior to match, unless you can find a donor vehicle. It's a pretty easy job. Google it t...

Re: More power for my 2.9L

Tek is right, it is an expensive task. There are a lot of options for the 2.9 such as headers, a chip for the computer, cold air intake, and exhaust. You can swap in a 302 for less with a good C-4 tranny, and have all the horses you want. It would be advisable to swap out both axles for better ones ...

Re: Throttle and idle issues

No fuel out of the regualtor. I replaced the hard plastic hose with a rubber one after it broke, and when I changed it, there was no fuel, or fuel odor coming from it. I will start it tho, and check it the way you said to do.
Thanks.

Re: Throttle and idle issues

Throttle and idle issues are almost completely cured. I have replaced all of the vacuum hoses, the EGR vacuum regulator, tuned it up, fuel filter, cleaned and checked the AIC solenoid, and it runs great, and it idles like it should. Starts right up, and after driving to work 15 miles one way, it sti...

Check Oil Light in dash is on

:wtf: I recently replaced my fuel filter on my 87 BII 2.9, and changed the oil. I have good oil pressure, and all of a sudden my check oil light in my dash is lit up. I check the oil every day before I start it, and it's full. I have checked the oil pressure with a manual guage, and it is at 40PSI a...

Re: After installing 2 inch lift....

Are they tipping in on the top, or front? If they are on the front, then you can adjust your toe-in via your tie rods.
If they are tipped in at the top, then it is a camber adjustment.
Either way, it is best to have it done by a reputable shop to avoid any driveability or stability issues.

Re: transmission or clutch

Check to see if the shifter itself is broken in the top of the tranny. There is a pin in there, and if it or the shifter has broken in the tranny, then it won't engage any gear, and it will feel loose, and you won't be able to shift to any gear. It is possible that when you down shifted it may have ...

Computer Codes

:wtf: I did a scan on my BII, and got 2 codes. First was a code 86 key on engine off which is Shift Solenoid (SS) Circuit Failure , and the second was a code 95 key on engine off continuous memory Which is Fuel Pump circuit open - EEC Processor to motor ground . Both were key on engine off. I will d...

Re: brake light help?

Last time I ran into that problem, it was the turn signal switch on the steering column. Both brake and turn signal lights share the same circuit so they both don't come on at the same time.
Might be easiest to have a shop diagnose it to see if it is the problem or not.
Just a thought.

Re: no power plugs and intake sensors or controls clogged

That rear filter you are talking about is not a filter! It is a fuel accumulator so your system always has fuel pressure. Don't break it! I have an 87, and the filter is under the drivers side exhaust manifold strapped to a plate with a hose clamp on the frame rail. You can get to it underneath from...

Re: .302 with 4 barell carb not idleing at all only hot

You have a vacuum leak somwhere near the carb, possibly a hose. When you spray the carb cleaner it will idle better and smoother indicates a leak. And you possibly could have some water in your fuel system, or carb. Take it out, and take it apart, and clean it, and blow it out with some compressed a...

Re: 1985 stereo wiring diagram

I found an easy way to find the wires for the speakers. You will need a AAA or AA battery, some electrical tape, and 2 wires about 6 inches long. Strip about half an inch off of each end of the wires, and tape the ends of a wire on each end of the battery. This only works for the speaker wires, I'm ...

Re: ignition tumbler swap without key

That would be the easiest fix other than having a locksmith come out and get it out for you, and that is not cheap by any means. Mine was almost a hundred bucks but mine was a 00 Jimmy.
That is a good idea you found there MatFrat, will have to keep that in mind.

Re: Throttle and idle issues

I have run into another problem with my BII. After it sits for a few hours after I drive it, it is leaking trans fluid out of the dipstick where the seam is in the middle of the tube. I have pushed the upper part as far as it will go on the bottom part, but it still leaks. I checked the fluid and it...

Re: flywheel

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if the flywheel teeth are stripped, you are going to have to pull the tranny/transfer case and replace the flywheel. Make sure and get the right one. I'm not sure how many ones there were for that year, so do your homework, and check the bellhousing, starter,...
