well regardless of whether it fixes the problem, it should help with fuel milage fixing the carbon canister vacuum line, and the IAC wont hurt to clean it as its been known in the past to cause problems for people.

nah she will get over it, besides the 4.0 is much more dependable than the 2.9 and the power difference is worth it...... will give about 60 - 80 more HP

well i would start by cleaning the IAC ...... located on the side of the intake manifold..... it a cylindrical shaped metal mo0tor looking device that allows more air in for the truck at idle when the engine is cold........ on drivers side of intake manifold and has 2 wires goin into it, takes 2 bol...

another option depending on the year, mine was a 1989 early model with the Dana 28 front end, i found that when i changed my 2.9 motor out for the 4.0 motor, the 4.0 had the same y pipe, which my 4.0 came from a 1991 model ford explorer built in november of 1990...... try looking here http://www.lmc...

well mine broke on the manifold side not the y pipe, the manifold bolt hole broke out, i cut the inner fender out on the passengerfe side so i had room to get to it, then i used a bot with a washer and took a large hose clamp and wrapped around it to hold the bolt in place and then tightened the hec...

you will notice the angle for the forts on the exhaust manifolds is slightly different, it may affect the way the y pipes were angled to attach to the manifolds, but i am unsure of that, so dont take my word for it that they wont work....... the only difference in them may be the collector for the c...

in 1989 ford changed the heads on the 2.9 liter. i used my 2.9 liter stock y pipe on a 1991 ford explorer 4.0 v6 motor ........ as for the question for the manifolds, yes they are the same, i also believe that in turn you will find that the problem with duals is the front drive shaft is in the way ....

well your right about that on the 4.0, and when i changed from my 2.9 i noticed it, but yeah there is 2 on the 2.9.

ok i bought it ....... they lost the title, but had an old registration for it, it runs but runs awefull ...... i got a receipt from them for it that was notarized, and i am applying for a new title for it ..... just playing it safe .... never know about people now a days.... and it has a c5 4x4 tra...
