Re: 1985 B2 project
Something didn't seem right with the speedometer so I checked it with my GPS. Only about 15 mph fast.

Re: 1985 B2 project
It starts with the key now, both reverse lights work, and runs pretty good.
Only thing left is to run new exhaust, do away with the vacuum switch garbage, and finish the front drive shaft.

Re: Rear seal on FM145
Did I put too much oil in the transmission or is there supposed to be a gasket between the transfer case and transmission?

Rear seal on FM145
Looks like I need a new rear seal on my 5 speed (FM145). I noticed a fresh spot of gear oil coming from between the transfer case and the transmission. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Re: global warming?
It's snowed here more in the last 2 years than in the previous 33 years. I hear there's a panel in Sweden who wants to take Al Gore's Nobel Peace Prize back. How about the 2.2 billion dollars he stole from the American People and others.

I need to ID a couple of plugs for the transmission
I removed the A4LD automatic from my 85 B2 and have the FM145 in now. I need to disable the neutral safety switch for the truck to start with the key and I need to ID the reverse light switch. I found 2 plugs yesterday, one with about 5 wires going into a round plug and one with 2 wires going into a...

Re: 1985 B2 project
Tomorrow I'll be sorting out lights, stupid neutral safety switch, and hammer out a plate to go under the shuft boot.

Re: 1985 B2 project
Turns out it was fuzzy corrosion growing on the distributor cap terminals. Put on new plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Pulls like a locomotive.

Re: 1985 B2 project
Took advantage of the dark to check and see if the wires were arcing outside. Look fine. I'll check it with the timing light tomorrow.

Re: 1985 B2 project
Took it down the road. The transmission swap was a total and utter success. :D The little V6 has a dead miss in one of the cylinders but since it's been sitting up since 1998 I'm not surprised. The motorcraft carb doesn't look bad even on the inside but I also have a new Holley 2bl that I can fall b...

Re: Trans fluid in trans and transfer case.
Many thanks Ranger Dave. I'm glad I asked. I would have put atf in both.

Re: 1985 B2 project
All of the hardware is in now. Took 4 hours to finish installing the gas tank and stuff.
I need to add fluid to the drive train and tighten the cross member.
The engine runs but doesn't idle well. I'll tackle that once everything else is done.

Trans fluid in trans and transfer case.
I'm just about through with my automatic to manual swap and I need to fill the transmission and transfer case with fluid. What grade ATF do I need?
