Re: Fuel Tank Sending Unit Question

Sorry, I don't remember when the change was made in the electronics, someone will clear that up soon tho.
On my 86 B2, I have eliminated the pump on the rail and installed one in the tank from a 90 B2.

Re: Fuel Tank Sending Unit Question

It will fit the tank hole. 89-90 only have one fuel pump, that is in the tank. 86-87 and most all 88 have 2 pumps, one in the tank, one on the frame rail under the drivers feet. I don't remember if there are any issues with the sending units having different OHM out put or not. The plug on the are m...

Re: oil dipstick tube

I, have in the past, (not on a 2.9) tapped the remaining piece down into the pan, then used a strong magnet to move the piece to the drain hole for extraction. This technique works, but is sometimes time consuming and can be real messy. If you use this method, you will want a very strong magnet to s...

Re: Lost 4WD?? Help

Do not replace it with the same type of drive line! I replaced 2 before I found out you could get one with u-joints for the same price. Talk with your auto parts guy and get a double cardon drive line, a single caron will be better than what you have, but IMO the double cardon is much better as it m...

Re: 88 bronco ii driving down road and then shut off

I have found over the years of owning RBV's that a continuity tester is a great piece of equipment for chasing some problems, grounds especially.
Glad you found the problem.
Is that a WA license plate?

Re: front diff

I think maybe I have figured out what is going on. Note the arrow that points to the axle code, to the left of the axle code is the transmission code "D". The 85 and earlier B2 & ranger door sticker I have seen in wrecking yards are a little different than this one from my 86 B2. So ma...

Re: need help please

Start with a look at this link: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_li ... sions.html
Then remember this was written a few years back.
If you check around the different RBV forums, you will find a lot of information on doing a 5.0L (302) swap.

Re: Getting rust out of tank.

That's what I have been waiting to see since you posted your response a couple months back. THAT IS OUTRAGEOUS, AND IT WORKS.
Now that I see how you did it, I wonder if we can do the same thing with a pickup?

Re: so you think you know your stuff

I bet that was a shock! I have never seen an impeller come off, but if it is mechanical, anything is possible I do know of a fellow who had a strange clicking noise in the front of the engine that abruptly went away, then he started have all kinds of cooling problems. After a couple of months he not...

Re: Lost 4WD?? Help

Since you can move in front wheel drive, you know your transmission is still OK. The tranfercase is the first thing in the line that could be broken, however I suspect it's fine as well. The next thing in line is the driveshaft. Chances are you have the CV joint style driveshaft, and CV joint has s...

but he says "The bulkhead plug pinouts I believe are the same". he doesnt know cause he hasent done it him self Agreed, but I think the wiring has the same color coding, at least the 91 Explorer and the 90 B2 we did a couple of years ago did. I don't remember any of the wires were swapped...

Re: so you think you know your stuff

Pick up a mechanical temp gauge and see what is really going on. You have apparently replaced most everything short of the cap, the cap is where most people start. The guess I have is the gauge on the dash is wacky. You say it is running at the top line on the gauge, is there steam coming from the r...

Run the codes?
Need some place to start, the reasons for a bad idle are not quite endless, but near.
Also include the specifics about the truck, especially the engine, drive train.
