Thanks for the replies. Kinda what I was expecting. If anyone else knows about the '94, please drop a reply, otherwise I'll plan on switching out the xfr cases..

I'm looking at the wiring diagram, but have not found any plain yellow wires that you're speaking of. I'll check my '84 tomorrow to try to answer your questions. When you say it's a yellow that changes to red, what exactly do you mean by that? Is it spliced or are you saying the color changes after ...

Front bearing replacement - xfr case

Kind of a simple question (to those who have done it). I have play on the front output shaft on my '84's transfer case. Looks to be the output bearing. How difficult will it be to replace it? I have the Ford Shop Manual and it doesn't really go into tearing this apart. Should I just put the xfr case...

My guess would be that if the distributor that you just bought doesn't have it, don't put it in. I don't think I've seen a distributor cap with a spacer, mine included. Can't hurt it to try though.

Ya know, we ought to have a forum for '84s... Almost like a whole different vehicle... :hmmm:

It's not called luck. You're after one type of performance, I'm after everything else... Some of us also call it experience.. I've been in the position to not be able to drive because of the cost of starting the engine. I swore I'd never do that again. The one truck that I've always loved got sold b...

Great, just had this same issue. It is a vacuum hose and it is for your power valve. The gas in the line means that your power valve's diaphram is torn. Take the number off the carb and go see NAPA, cost you $20. Amazing what it'll do for your performance! Oh.. Then change your oil, cuz it has been ...

I was getting 18/22 with my '88 2.9 5spd. The 22 was combined 50/50 highway interstate mileage. That's 55/70 mph. In the dead of winter I would get 17 on the same commute which is 70 miles each way. The more hwy you drive, the better it'll get in all-round mileage.. Mine has 150K miles running 235/7...

I think we need a '84 Bronco II club...

Just read your initial post again. Sounds like your heater is acting like your radiator which is why it gets hot so fast. Without the real radiator, this makes perfect sense.. Silly question, but have you checked your hoses? Seems like lately I've had issues with rubber hoses collapsing on the insid...

Ok, good show. One more thing to check. Just for troubleshooting. Bypass your heater core. You can do this by just reconnecting one of the hoses. Remember that the heater core acts like a second radiator and if it isn't flowing, you may not get the proper cooling either.. The correct flow for this i...

If it's on the passenger side mounted close to the vacuum switches on the fender it should be your MAP sensor.

I have the '83 Ranger/'84 Bronco II FORD Shop Manual. The one they actually use in the Ford garages. It is extremely good. If you can find one on eBay, I've seen them go for around $50. Well worth the time and effort spent with the other manuals. I also have the Haynes and Chilton manuals, but the F...

Hey! I've been working with 2 radiators out of '84s. Both of them were plugged so badly with dog gone radiator sealant that they couldn't flow. Take the radiator off and take it down to a radiator shop and make sure that the thing flows.. Could just be that without the thermostat it could get just e...

Well, according to the '84 shop manual the procedure is thus: Connect a digital voltmeter between Terminal No. 215 (Yellow/Black Dots) (Low Fuel Sense), and Terminal No. 57 (Black) With the ignition switch either in "ACC" or "RUN" position and the fuel tank being below a pre-dete...
