Re: 1988 bronco11, bad gas milege

My '88 2.9 5spd with manual hubs gets 20-22 on the highway and just under 20 in town. When it's REALLY cold out in the winter and the hubs are locked in, I NEVER get below 15. As I said, mostly highway. My '84 2.8 auto when I picked it up got around 12 or 13. Fixed the carb, tuned it up and througho...

Re: clueless

Mine was doing this too. '89 2.9 until I finally replaced the O2 sensor. You can and should test it before replacing though. I'm with VABroncoNut, don't replace unless you're sure. I played around with mine for 3 months. There was no codes which pointed it this way and it reacts differently than any...

I would say that this is not common based upon the experience with numerous BIIs, however my '89's drivers seat belt (in the post) would get wet when it rained alot. This was attributed to the sunroof. But if it rained more than a lot, the driver's rear floorboard (carpet) would be wet. If you don't...

Can you say "BIC" lighter? Nice, light, disposable, purchased for when you don't want to get a good Zippo trashed. The Escape on the other hand is quite nice, like a 4x4 sports car.. They're a blast. Kinda reminds me of the BII except for the front wheel drive aspect. I'm with CPUBuilder. ...

Sorry, the vacuuming part of the duct is assuming you have the blower pulled again..

I'd hate to state the obvious, but have you tried a good vacuum? I also found that removing the heater core was an easy way to clean the ducts out.. May sound crazy, but it does come out very easy. Lastly from the other end, the current BII must have been parked under a maple tree, because the thing...

If I remember correctly, my '89 was doing almost the same thing. Ended up being the O2 sensor..

Yep, you're right, Land Rover is owned by Ford. I had forgotten about the Defender, but then again I have to stay within my mean$... Great shot by the way. Check out this link.. I think they missed the removable top part, but it's a great looking vehicle: http://seriouswheels.com/cars/top-2004-Ford-...

Well, I had a great post going and came back to find my session timed out and now have to retype it... Oh well. We're getting snow here again, and being a bit chilly there, I don't blame you for not wanting to work on the carb.. My 84 was running BAD when I first got ahold of it. Looked like someone...

You pose an interesting question. I've been asking myself the same and told my wife that if I ever have to get rid of the BII, I was gonna get a Wrangler. I like the Unlimited, but not the newer 4 door type. I DON'T WANT A 4 DOOR. Seems like all the manufacturers want you to have a dog-goned 4 door....

BTW, if you go to the Chilton's manual and do the carb tuneup, it will get you running very nicely. Do the whole thing though, not just bits and pieces. It will probably show you that you are running way rich. You should not have your mixture screws turned out farther that 3/4 to 1 1/2 turns from so...

No, some of them have smaller tanks, but the '84 has a 23 gallon. My '88 with the 2.9 5 speed in the roughest of winter would sometimes dip to as low as 15mpg, but that is not common.
