Re: Worth the trouble?

I know people here like them bottom t-stat motors but I like not having to adjust valves and messing with the carb. and if you just overheat it a little the heads pop. I know 2.9 heads don't like the heat also but atleast I can find them.

Re: 89 2.9L idle loping

I had a injector that would do that till the plug cleaned out. I pulled spark plugs out till I found the plug with gas on it but it was a miss more than a lope and you could smell raw gas from the tailpipe.

Re: Engine additives

I seen a friend of my Dads make it home on a trip when he used powered egg whites but thats about all I would use in a pinch. TO MAKE IT HOME. He also showed me the piece of wood in a leaking freeze plug and I have used that on a few rides to make it home. I'm a newbee here but I'm starting to like ...

Re: Bronco II 2.9L Heads Need Fixin'

Block Check the cooling system will tell you if the heads are junk, also if it's bad the engine will run rough when you frist start it most of the time, before the spark plug cleans up then gets hot quick.

around 40PSI (276kPa) hook a vacuum gage to it and see if it holds pressure or if you see gas in vacuum line it's no good

Re: fuel issues

Re: Fuel guage reads full always

Does it have a IVR? Connect a test light between gage lead (BK/LG) at instrument custer and ground. The light should blink regularly with the ignition on. Normal gage resistance in a 1988 is 10 to 14 ohms. Check gage calibration with 10 ohm (high) and 73 ohm (low) resistors. If gage tests within cal...

I wouldn't go below 8 PSI unless you carry a can of WD40 and a match to get it back on the bead. I like 10 to 15
