Thanks. She's looking OK, and does pretty good on the trail, but I am very jealous over the drivetrain your sporting. At the very least, I want a C5 and doubler, but a 4.0 would really be sweet. I have had only manuals for years, but the Mitsu really sucks and I think I'd be a little more "grac...

My '88 trail B2

I bought my '88 B2 a few years back gradually began transforming into a trail rig: When I got it (next to my Ranger w/ 33's): http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f371/csb5731/b4.jpg After the SAS, Some trimming and MTR's: http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f371/csb5731/After1.jpg Early wheeling shot. Chris (I seem to recall that being your name), it was nice meeting you at the cleanup.

Those utility-bed quads you guys brought were real handy.

You could probably fit 35” tires with a 3” body lift and significant sheet metal trimming. Trimming in front is straightforward enough, but the rear is a PITA. More than an inch or so around the wheel opening is double-wall and into the cab. More importantly: In addition to any turning radius issues...

Yeah - a picture update would be cool! I'm all too familiar with the fubar. It gives some of my parts that "evolved" look. How'd the reaming go (knuckles and pitman arm, that is)? I had done my Pitman first, and it was hard to ream and took some time. When it came time to do the knuckles I...

I know people swap the autos for manuals all the time, so I don't think that's an issue. All 1354 cases have a fixed yoke front output, which mates (I think always) with a double cardan front driveshaft. Almost all 1350 cases have a slip yoke front output, and these as far as I have seen always mate...

I think I went to Specialty Metals in Kent once (but might have been Kent Metal Supermarkets), when I lived down in that area. The gave me (free) a whole bunch of their remnants - I gave them 5 bucks for the donut fund. Still using some of the angle to this day. Although with todays steel prices I d...

Where are you NW WA guys getting steel?

I was wondering where you guys in the King/Snoho/Pierce county guys get your metal for your smaller fab jobs. The main one I go to (MEtal Supermarkets - Woodinville) I have to rely primarily on the remnants section because minimum order of "virgin" stock is to much for me to use/justify. B...

I'm running an adjustable, and it has ~2.5" of thread showing. Not optimal. I was overly concerned when I did my swap with matching drag link/track bar lengths and angles and I figure that the adjustable would be the easiest way to go - if I ever do another one I'll probably just fiddle more wi...

I used 2.5" x 2.5" tube, 1/4" wall, because that's what my local metal provider had in the remnants section. I ended up welding "plate" washers on the inside to better fit the trackbar as there was a gap between the bushing and the tube. I guess the bonus was that it probabl...

On my 88, I aligned the rear hole of a 78-79 Big Bronco drop bracket with the center frame hole of the "inverted bolt-hole triangle". If you go to the link below and look at the 3rd picture down, you can see what I mean. This gave me exactly 94" wheelbase, which I believe is stock B2....

Thanks guys. Alas I just discovered is that my spare tire will no longer fit lying flat in the bed anymore because of the tubs. I need to fab up some sort of bed carrier to lift up the front part of the tire to clear them. I was hoping I was through. Shouldn't be too hard, though.

I like that rear bumper. My JD rear tube bumper got a little mangled last year after dumping the clutch on a steep hill and smashing against a boulder. I am now considering plagarizing yours. I bought the same rocker armor as you, but haven't installed them yet do to other projects and a little body...

All in all, this project was a little more than I was bargaining for given my limited expertise. On the positive side, the floor stiffened up nicely after I got the tubs riveted in, and despite the thin gauge metal the assembled tubs are very rigid. If I were to start over, I’d still just buy a big ...

Here’s one in place. The tub frame is riveted to the floor every two inches or so. My orignal plan was to weld the assembly in, but I figured this way will be easier to modify. I need to run a bead of seam sealer around the edges where the tub meets the body and where the frame meets the floor. When...
