Re: Engine comp wiring help
Thanks everyone, lots of information here! Wonderful!!! RangerDave, the diagram for the engine you sent shows a "diode" with a white/pink stripe followed by a green/white stripe. This looks like it could be it!! Is there any way of finding out what type of "diode" this is so I could buy the right ...

Engine comp wiring help
Had some major wiring melting issues in the LH fender area and need some help with 1 particular connection. After coming thru the firewall, a portion of the harness connects to the plug (as shown) with the wires going thru to the RH side of the comp. There is a wire with a "diode" which has melted ...

Re: Whining noise after disengaging 4x4
Not yet. I have been out of country for a while. Still working on possible solutions. I will be checking all tires and wheels, bearings, u joints etc, working my way through everything till I hopefully find the culprit. I took it to a shop and they did a road test but they could not provide any real ...

Re: Whining noise after disengaging 4x4
More information. I placed jacks under all 4 wheels and put it in drive. Only rear wheels turn. In 4 wd all wheels turn. I can turn front wheels by hand in both directions freely without front drive turning. BUT if I turn the front driveshaft by hand after less than 1/2 turn the front wheels engage ...

Whining noise after disengaging 4x4
After driving in freezing rain and snow a few days ago in 4wd I seem to now have a whining noise (very similar to that when it is in 4wd) that seems to increase and decrease with the speed of my 86bii, auto,2.9,elec shift. I tried going in and out of 4wd and it seems to work but the whining still is ...

Re: IAC. Where exactly is it?
Still won't let me upload a picture. When facing the engine, on the left side is a horizontal cylindrical unit with an electrical connection at the end with a red and grey wire. It is attached to the throttle body/ intake close to the front with 2 bolts separated by a gasket. What might this be? On ...

IAC. Where exactly is it?
I have an 86 BII, 2.9. I am getting conflicting locations from my repair manual. Can someone please tell me exactly where each item is? Left, right side; top, bottom; IAC, TPS. I would like to clean the IAC but am not quite sure which it is. I tried uploading a picture but for some reason would not ...

Cruise Control question
Brand new to the forum. The cruise on my 86 B2 2.9l quit working. I have checked the fuse, connections under the hood as well as the vacuum lines. Everything seems fine. My manual does not show specific wiring diagram for this. Any ideas as to where to start looking now would be appreciated. Thanks.
