Re: 5.0 Install

I'm in the process of tracking down why I have coolant in the oil. Just pulled the cylinder head, is it normal to have coolant in the bottom hole of the block where the bolts go for the head? If it is I didn't put sealant on these bolts. Was that a mistake on my part? I have a brand new gasket set, ...

RTI Ramp

My work is getting rid of 5 20 foot sticks of 1.5" square tube steel and a bunch of misc lengths. I am going to use this to build a RTI ramp. I have it all planned out at 25 degrees. I was going to go 2 feet wide but I am thinking of going a little smaller. Tomorrow it gets cut and then it just...

Re: 5.0 Install

It's all together.... Still didn't drive it. I have coolant in the oil and I'm not sure I it's from when I changed to water pump or if I have a bad head gasket. The intake gaskets are new. If the I find out the block is cracked I'll run it unroll she goes. If not I'm going to fix I right. Basically ...

I don't know if you tired autozone.com or not but it's worth checking out. A lot of good info there for free.

Re: 5.0 Install

I have a single serpentine set-up. I won't be down again until thursday around 11:30. Has anyone ever tried using a short 2" oil filter? It looks like there is room for one if my remote adapter would be the problem. I know I'm jumping around alot on possibilities but I need a list of things to ...

Re: 5.0 Install

I confirmed that the old filter gasket did not stick to the block. I checked and it's still on the filter. I checked the pcv valve and it rattles. So that's not it. I took the tranny and t-case off also in preparation or the new flywheel. I never though about this but I didn't even check to see if i...

Re: 5.0 Install

No it didn't. Honestly I can't tell where it's from. It's in the area of the oil pressure sending unit for the gauge, and the oil filter. It only happens when it's running and right after it shuts down it literally pours out. I can get a pic tomorrow but that's the area it's at. Is there room to pul...

Re: 5.0 Install

What is the correct oil filter to be using. I'm using a ph8a. I'm thinking this could be the root of my oil leak. I think it maybe having too much pressure at the adapter inlet causing it to leak. What is a filter I can use that is more free flowing. If it's not that or the PVC valve I'm clueless. :...

Re: 5.0 Install

I've been doing some research on why my oil may be leaking and I'm thinking it could possibly be a bad pcv valve. I'll have to check it out. I hope that's what it is. Such an easy fix.

Re: 5.0 Install

I got the radiator and fan installed today. I had to change the rear yoke on my t-case to the cv style. Started it up. Still have an oil leak but I can't tell where it is from. Either that hole I stated earlier or the oil filer adapter. The guy I got my flywheel from gave me the wrong me. So I order...

Re: 5.0 Install

Exactly. I must have misunderstood an earlier post. I actually had the lifters out before I put the engine in, but I just completely forget what they were. At least I have a roller block. That is nice. Thank you. You help me out so much. Honestly my b2 would not be where it is right now without your...

Re: 5.0 Install

Got a quick question. My block has the spider or girdle or whatever for the lifters. Does this mean my block is roller ready? If I get roller lifters I would need rods and a cam for rollers too right? If I would get a larger cam I would need to check to see if my pistons have valve releifs correct? ...

Re: 5.0 Install

Thanks for the tip. Everything should be here Tuesday. So next weekend I'll clean it up and throw it back together.
