new rig to replace the BII

I just picked up a 73 international scout II to replace my Bronco as my daily driver. Not sure what I am doing with the bronco yet, either get it sold or make it into a pure trail rig. The scout is pretty cool though; 345, dana 30 and 44, dana 20 transfercase, new 33" pro comps, 4" lift sp...

Re: NEED HELP WITH GETTING B2 RUNING AGAIN

The way it work for me was, I just cranked it a lot until it started and was running poorly. then turned the distributor a little until the engine sounded better. After that I used a timing light to get the correct timing.

Re: NEED HELP WITH GETTING B2 RUNING AGAIN

I have had this happen to me after I replaced my cap, rotor, and ignition module. Check the hold down bolt at the base of the distributor and see if it is loose at all, if it is you may have turned the distributor and knocked it out of timing. I had bumped mine and it took forever to start, once I g...

Re: fire hazzard?

Yeah, the connector had melted on the headlight side. I got a new one at work, the Standard Ignition number is S622 for anyone that might run into this problem. Turn signals and lights work, the real challenge is going to be running the lights for a longer time tonight. Ill let you know if it all wo...

Re: fire hazzard?

It is the plug you described. Its only the top right part of the plug that heats up, the rest of it is actually cool. Do I need to disconnect it and clean up the inside and apply dielectric grease on it or find another one and replace the whole plug?

fire hazzard?

So I noticed this problem on my 88 the other week. When I'm driving with the headlights on, the top of my steering column heats up to the point where it smells like burning plastic. I removed the cover and none of the wires seem burnt or frayed, and the cover isnt melted on the back. Its the rear to...

Re: IDLE PROBLEMS

Does your bronco have Cruise control? If it does I would check the cable to see if its sticking. Happened to me the other day, the cable had came off the mounting tab and got stuck to the throttle cable, everytime i pushed the clutch in it would rev to 2000 rpm and not come down until I put it in ge...

Re: Oil pump

I know that the book says the proper oil pressure should be between 40-60 psi at 2,000 RPM. My oil pump is 2 years old, and it runs at 50 PSI at start up and then around 20 once it heats up. If you're getting top end noise, after the engine is warm, then you are probably not getting enough oil circu...

Re: Brake Drums

It turns out, the brake cable was old and wasn't letting the shoes retract all the way in. So, not wanting to screw around with the brake cable yet, I just removed the parking brake fork and the drum slid right on.

Brake Drums

So my rear driver side brake shoes wore out finally, I put on a new set tonight with new springs and an adjuster kit. But, I cant seem to get the drum to slide over the shoes. I turned the adjuster all the way in and have checked my spring placement with any diagrams I have, but still cant seem to g...

Re: Leaking oil outta hose!! Help

The small plastic hose you are talking about sounds like an oil pressure gauge line, do you have an aftermarket gauge in your truck? I would get a copper line and use a lot of teflon tape on all the threads to seal it up.

Re: Huge leak from under dash?

I had this issue before, most of the water was pouring in through the passenger side and some through the driver side. Turns out, the passages behind my blower motor were clogged with leaves and sticks so the water couldnt drain except through the lower vents inside the cab. Theres a trap door you c...

drivetrain setup

I picked up a rebuilt 289 out of a 66 bronco and once I assemble it, Im going to put it in my 88 BII. I was just wondering what transmissions everyone has used and which one would fit best. I know the 88 Mazda manual transmission I have doesnt have the removable bellhousing so I deff. have to throw ...
