I think I found the fuel filter...next to the transfer case, along the inside frame rail. It has kind of a 'half-housing' that I can't get out. Is there a trick to removing the filter and/or housing?

Update: It's been sitting outside for prolly a week. I just went to start it up and it started up great and ran fine for about 10-15 seconds...then sputtered out real suddenly and died. I then started it again and it ran for about 4-5 seconds before dying, trying to apply the throttle to prevent ...

alright, I'll get more info and let ya guys know. It's a 2.9 FI. My dad thinks it's the fuel filter(s), so I am gonna swap those out. I am unsure if it's throwing any CELs, but I'll look.

Help diagnosing a problem

The vehicle will start, but die soon after. We are thinkin' it's a fuel filter...what you folks think?

I've got to do the same thing on an '87 with the 2.9. Wondering if I have one or two filters. Also, any pics of the filter(s) installed?
