You can actually swap the whole front suspension -beams, diffy, springs etc and then you will have a real durable front drivetrain. Works real well with a 4" lift at the same time. (see my post in chit chat) An 8.8 from a new generation Ranger would probably swap in easier than my Explorer axle...

The traction bars pivot from the front perch bolt of the spring and don't limit the travel a bit - just keep the diffy from wrapping the springs up and destroying the driveshaft.
