You can actually swap the whole front suspension -beams, diffy, springs etc and then you will have a real durable front drivetrain. Works real well with a 4" lift at the same time. (see my post in chit chat) An 8.8 from a new generation Ranger would probably swap in easier than my Explorer axle but ...

The traction bars pivot from the front perch bolt of the spring and don't limit the travel a bit - just keep the diffy from wrapping the springs up and destroying the driveshaft.
