Bronco starting question

Whats the relay( I think) on the firewall for? I've tryed shorting the solonoid and cleaned every connection but it won't start or crank. The starter tested good. It sounds like that relay thing on the firewall is clicking? Is it needed ?? Its like a fuseblock thing. The parts store don't carry this...

Whats going to be a good timing number for the 2.8 with the 2691 distributor which has a single vacuum line? I'll want to ck total advance too since my timing light does this easy.

When changing the 84 Bronco II to a duraspark ignition I've learned that when I ordered a distributor, Advance Auto part#30-2691 (single vacuum line) it doesn't come with a cap adapter to fit the larger cap. what wire is this

passenger side, its a yellow wire, then it goes into a black small tube or connector, then its black..its weird, I want to cut it, but scared to yet..I can't tell if its a factory thing or not?? On another section of wires I found six wires rapped together, losely, with no covering at all !!!

Thats what I was hoping. I would have to special order it also. My wife's car thru a rod bearing when she kept putting off her oil changes for so long that the screen got plugged up with crud. she doesn't wait anymore!!

I'm doing away with my stock ignition..(DARN YES)..Is the spacer inbetween the dist. and the cap swappable when I change to my pinto dist. I bought a 2691 from advance and it didn't come with one? Is this a no brainer?

Dang, 57$ for a thermostat. I would take out the back seats and install a second radiator before I would pay that. I don't know what the deal is. Have you cked for a blockage in the engine itself?
