Since it appears you've given up on the 2.9, you might consider a 4.0 swap. Lots written about this on different forums. You don't mention the vehicle involved, but swap is easiest on 89 and newer Rangers and B2s.

Sorry to reply to old thread, but the sales booklets for the B2 listed the "flip open rear window" as an option every year except 1990. If you ordered the window, you couldn't order the washer/wiper with defroster. While searching for my current B2, I saw lots of 87s with the flip open window ...

I agree with tekatlarge, swap the doors, unless your original doors are rust free and have great paint. Many guys with the 89/90 B2s would rather have the vent wings.

IIRC, the computer is behind the right kick panel. You might be able to surface mount a speaker there, but no flush mount. But I wouldn't want the speaker magnetic driver that close to the brain box.
